OK, found loads of pics and install stuff over at http://www.navplus.us/forum/viewtopic.p ... sc&start=0 :)

One I really need to know the answer to.

I know I have to get a double Din adaptor, BUT is the whole centre console specific to Double/Single DIN, or just the cage inside?

Would this be the same on the S4 B5? I am looking at various audio/satnav/bluetooth options at the moment and havent bough the car yet :)
What are the alternatives for a smart finish that wouldn't look out of place in the dash area?
Most of the stuff like the Pioneer and Alpines are full of blue LED lights which would look a little odd IMO.

Search the electronic section for 'Becker'

The S4 & RS4 are almost identical in terms of interior, the stereo / sat nav options are exactly the same.

Just in case anyone stumbles here, the B5 single DIN center console IS different to the double DIN!

I think it might be possible to cut the single DIN one to fit, but it's only 65 pounds or so from Audi.

About how much are we looking at to put RNS-E into a CAN Bus enabled RS4/S4?

RNS-E A6 Unit with GPS Aerial and nav DVD £400-£500
canGate £70 (fixes clock issue)
Wire Harness £45
Access to VAG-COM full version

Some time and patience

This is if you have a Double Din setup already, otherwise

Double Din Centre console £80 (new)
Double Din Cage £150 (new)
Double Din Air Con unit £300 (new)
Double Din gearstick surround (depends on finish)
Double Din ashtray (£40 new ?)

R
The Nav unit is good including TMC and works flawlessly in my B5 S4.

To cut down on costs you can:

Modify single DIN center console
Modify Air con unit
Cut gearstick surround

I didn't do this, ended up picking up parts from Ebay over 6 months.

Question, do you have digital dash clock? If not you going to have to buy a wiring harness with a can-bus emulator. These can be purchased from Kufatec. If you do have the digital clocks then you can get the can-bus High & Low from the instrument cluster, but you will have a problem with the time being out on the Audi navigation if you fit one. To get around the time problem you can buy can-gate adaptor from a guy on navplus, or you you could just use the can emulator from kufatec, as this does not provide time information on the can-bus, so the navigation unit gets the time from GPS.

Also if you don't have a k-line (diagnostic wire) going into the radio like on my old b5, you will need to run that wire from the instrument cluster or the diagnostic port.

So you will need the can-bus emulator, but trying to find the double din cage second hand is almost impossible, I've been looking for months. If you what this done quickly then your going to have to buy the bits new.

I also need the bits for my B5 A4 I could see if the dealer would be will to do a discount for 2 kits, I've also got a trade account with kufatec, so I should be able to get the can-bus emulator cheaper.
