B5 S4 Power Supply

Post by GrahamS4 » Fri May 12, 2006 11:24 am

Getting my B5 S4 ('98) next week. Been reading and searching the site for a while now and managed to get many answers without a single post.

I want to start thinking about my navigation/hard wired Road Angel/hands free kit installs.

Any tips on where any handy power sources are, and or the actual fuse box if it's easy enough to patch into?

There are always 2 camps, but personally I am happy to run things like the Road Angel from any suitable ingnition on supply, with an inline fuse in the RA feed.

Any suggestions on what's easiest to get to trim removal wise? Either dash radio/cig lighter area or perhps centre console/arm rest area where I am considering installing the phone cradle.

Also how does the standard Concert head unit come out - is it a standard one or the Audi tool - can I get one from Hellfrauds?

TIA
Graham

The fuses are located in the side of the dash, drivers side. You can either remove the trim on the side to gain access to the fuses or you can remove the knee bolster to gain access to the back of the fuse board. Here you will find all the connections you need.

Not sure about the radio removal tool, I have seen them on ebay before.

Radio removal tool should be on it's way!

Does any one have any pictures of how to connect in to the fuse board - are any special connectors required to make the job look OEM?

Pleeease!

What your looking for is the 75 rail behind the fuse box, this is the switched live. Attach a fused lead to that terminal.

Fantastic - Road Angel hard wired and Handsfree all plumbed in.

just sat nav to go....

Searching for colour of illumination lead and speed pulse if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Also, is there an easy cable path from boot to dash as I would like to mount my navigation's DVD drive in the boot.
