Alarm stuff

Post by shineydave » Sun Apr 02, 2006 8:39 am

finally got my factory alarm working after fitting a new OE siren, £75 from Audi. wish i hadn't bothered as the sound out of it is Turkish (Shi'ite) because of the location. even so with the boot open it's fairly loud so i decided to move it to a position where the sound could radiate more. found a location under the bonnet, cut the wires to the plug on the sounder and extended them by 20ft or so, made up a loom and ran the wires into the engine bay and soldered the plug back on. now got a front mounted alarm that you can actually hear. FYI, don't mount it under the plastic cover in front of the windscreen as water runs down there when it rains. cheap alternative to a new alarm system, £3 for three 7mtr rolls of wire, some insulating tape and an hour of your time.
