Stiff Knob...

Post by TarmacTerrorist » Wed Mar 01, 2006 10:46 pm

I'm having a bit of a problem with a stiff knob...If I twiddle it for a bit it seems to soften up some what, but after 5 mins or so it gets stiff again. I think the problem has been caused by a spill of something sticky from a poor holding position.. Please, does anyone how to get behind the back of my knob to clean it? Does anyone know if it comes off and if so how do I pull it off??

Ooops, how careless of me. I forgot to mention it's the volume knob for the stereo unit that is sticky, think I have spilt Coke over it from the cup holder positioned above.

DOes anyone know if the knob will come off??

:jump:

Of to the official repairers with that one I think. If you don't want to risk the exchange deal on it. If you or anyone else attempts to fix it and breaks the seal. They won't give you an exhange unit at a discounted price.

It'll probably cost you £60 just for the feckers to look at it. That was my expereince 3 years back on a basic unit.

What the feck were Audi thinking of putting a cup holder above a £900 head unit. I would never dream of using it! :audibash:

The only thing I'm ever likely to use that cup holder for is to put a digital boost gauge in its place!

TT - if you dont mind breaking your seal ...... with your stiff nob ........
You can remove the facia off your unit with some small torx screwdrivers(v.small),
same ones can take the facia covers off so you can make your nob soft - :bigblink:

Further info -- seek yr womans assistance
