Door Trim removal, speaker trim, 6.5's?????

Right first things firts, I am not really sure where to put this post so decided on here in the end...
Car is my RS4 (B5)
Only noticed the other day that whilst my car was being sprayed the lovely chaps at the spray shop managed to snap the speaker grill on the front passenger side. I have allready replaced it one (actually the car hi-fi centre did whilst they were replacing the front speakers).
Anyway I decided to order two normal A4 speaker grills instead of the bose/audi branded covers. I no longer have the BOSE system it was one of the first things to go when I bought the car as it is rubbish.
This afternoon I had 5 minutes so pulled the cracked cover off with ease, it just slid out. I had put JL audio badges on the plain covers as I had the JL audio speaker grills still in the loft. (the only blessing in this whole sorry tail is that I was not sure whether the JL audio badges looked <beep> anyway as they were just stuck onto the grill. on the original JL audio grills they are ressessed in a small indent in the grill)
Anyway came to inserting the new grill and basically it was such a tight fit and without securing it from the rear it kept lifting up and not sitting properly. The drivers side was even more of a joke the car-hi-fi centre had obviously left in on whilst they were doing their bits and pieces and it was welded in place with body filler. I just about managed to free up one of the holes.
I then decided to try and take the door panel off (5 mins was quickly turning into 1 hour, just ask the wife) How the feck do you get that bugger off ? I undid all the screws I could see, even the ones under the handle cover - but it would not move. If someone knows how please enlighten me.
Anyway it was getting colsd anmd I was getting annoyed so went back inside and tried to take a couple of prings off each cover. Wrecked the drivers side by cracking the front cover ( I destroyed the original Bose cover getting it off ) and took 3 prongs off the passenger side so it flaps around in the breeze. Even more annoyed with myself for rushing and wasting £18.00 on speaker grills.
Anyway, my sysytem is pretty good, but the fact that the front speakers are 5.25's is really annoying for that all important mid range, they are the 1st things to go at reasonable volume. Also they tend to go very quickly at mid to low frequency. From having bothe sizes in Corrados I know that the 6.5" will make a massive difference to the listening experience. Hence this seems like a perfect opportunity to upgrade the fronts to 6.5's. I researched this a bit before the initial install and found a company in Germany who make an adapter for the front speakers to take 6.5's. (will post when I find them again) Although I was not sure by the quality, Giles S4RS4 has them in his car, again I am not sure.
I might go for this option, but woindered if anyone else on the list has managed to convert the fronts to 6.5's and if so had di they do it.
I have also added a small pole on what people thing I should do. Either way it is going to be a door off job (please someone tell me how) and definately more than 5 minutes.
