Guys, has anyone installed one of these bluetooth kits into an S4 B5. i've got the CD based Nav+ and wondered how it performed. also were there any issues with the Bose speakers requiring 2ohms and the Parrot output being 4ohms. cheers

I had one on my S4 with SatNav & Bose, it worked really well, but try as I might I could not get the Parrot Output to work through the car speakers, I ended up talking to a professional installer, he said that it could be done with surgery to the loom, he was certain that an aftermarket loom was not available due to the Bose.

In the end I installed a small Nokia Speaker under the Dash, worked just fine.

Yes it will work, I'm about to put one into Gordon's RS4 and it will mute and come through the speakers.

I need a car kit installed and was about to take the plunge with a Parrot 3200 LS-Colour and was wondering if anyone has any comments as to whether they are any good. All previous car kits that I've had have been the non-bluetooth Nokia one's where the phone is in a cradle. The obvious advantage of this type of kit is that it will always charge your phone, but I'll have to get into the habbit of doing that at work or at home.

The company that I've settled on, A V R Mobiles, sounded very knowledgable and come out to you to fit the kit. They knew about the BOSE issue on my car and there is a special adapter / loom that they supply to get the phone audio to come through the car speakers. The whole kit, supplied and fitted, comes to £250 in vat, which i didn't think was that bad.

So, what I really want to know is, are the Parrot kits any good or would a Nokia bluetooth kit be better (I have a Nokia 6230i)?

And, if they are any good, where have you located the small screen? In my car (B5 RS4), just to the right of the steering wheel on the carbon fibre trim looks like a good option.

The Nokia 610/616 is the dog's danglies if you have the 6230i! The main benefit is that the 610/616 is a car phone in its own right (can be used with its own SIM card inserted) but the alternative mode is using the SIM Access bluetooth profile whereby the car phone merely 'borrows' the SIM details from the handset.

I went for the Parrot kit last thing on Friday, and then saw your comments on Saturday morning. I called Gavin at AVR Mobiles (sounds very knowledgable and friendly) this morning and asked about the Nokia 610 / 616 kits. He wasn't so keen on the 610 as it's a couple of years old now and has been (or is about to be) discontinued as they have had a lot of returns. He was complimentary about the 616, so long as you have a Nokia phone, and, more specifically, the 6320 rather than the 6230i. It hasn't got the capability of totally 'sharing' the phones' sim card in a 6230i, but it can on the 6230 (strange, as the 6230 is an older model).

Also, they would need to drill a panel on the dash to install it, and, for me, that's not really ideal, even though he said that they would do it on a panel that is easily replaceable. And finally, the price. Gavin reckons the Nokia 616 would work out at around £350 installed, whereas the Parrot 3200 LS is £250.

The Parrot kit is a bit more flexible as it can be paired to any bluetooth phone, so, for that reason and the reason's above, that's the one I've gone for, hopefully I won't regret it!

Ive just bought an B5 RS4 with a Parrot CK3100 kit already installed.

Problem is that there is big fugly speaker located down the side of the passenger seat well, which is where the phone audio comes out....

Reading through this post it seems there is in fact a solution to this, to get phone audio from the cars speakers instead, using an adapter cable.

Does anyone have a link to show me where I can buy one of these from?

Has anyone attempted to upgrade a previous installation, in this way?

Could try these guys, they supplied and fitted the Parrot kit in my car, they were excellent, and reasonably priced. I reckon they would supply you the wiring kit you need.
