Finaly got my Phatbox form santa and installed it to day here's a step by step if i can do this in 1/2 an hour any one can

Phatbox Install

1. Remove screws marked in yellow on picture 1
2. Carefully remove the frame it will need some gentle persuasion an the right hand side but don’t be worried just work it out moving it back and forth being careful not to catch the wires on the left hand topside
3. Now remove the screws marked in yellow on picture 2 on both sides and then cable connecter marked in on this picture
4. Now you can remove the cd changer as in picture 3 once removed now connect the Phatbox cable to the connector in picture 4 and cover back with the foam protector
5. Insert the Phatbox and secure with a screw on either side they only line up on one hole on the bracket but this is sufficient to secure the box in place see picture 5&6
6. Now refit the frame being careful not to trap any wires put most of the excess cable below the Phatbox see picture 7 and secure with the screws again the cable in the back of the Phatbox will be hard against the body
7. Now insert the cartridge see picture 8 and follow the set up instructions on the manual and your done took me a hole ½ hour
8. the cover will not fit with the carterage installed see picture 9&10 you can either cut a slot in the cover to allow it to go back on or get a trim or upholsterer to modify the cover with a extra bulge to cover the cartridge this is the root I’m going and will post pictures when the cover is modified

I couldn't get all the pictures up loaded on to this page so see my gallery for the pictures

Maybe the admin could make this a sticky or could start a tech section? just a thought :D

Well done ... wish my RS6 install had been as easy - had a real wrestle trying to get the frame out once I'd managed to get all the screws out that is... got some skinned knuckles to prove it. Happy with the end result though.

Lol, took me all of half an hour to fit one in the wifes Broomstick (passat B5) including running the cable from the head unit to the boot. absolute doddle and fits in the first aid box compartment a treat. i did it xmas lunchtime between courses, took her longer to get the xmas pud ready. well recommended addition.

Did mine a few days ago too. I spent some time cutting a hole in the cover so that the cartridge head just protrudes, with a neat finish. Shame to have to do it but I'm pleased with the results.

What confounds me though is what I use as the SEEK select button on Sat Nav +. What radio do you have?

It works just fine, I'm just a bit of a control freak so I don't like the fact that I can't access some of the features. If I don't have to configure the unit to tell it I have an RNS plus, then why does the option exist?
