Sat Nav Lady gone dumb!!

Post by TWH » Thu Jun 16, 2005 1:41 pm

All of a sudden my sat nav lady is no longer talking to me. I can hear the volume drop slightly on the radio when she would be giving directions but there's no voice.

I've tried ejecting and cleaning the disc to no avail.

Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone have any suggestions as to what to try next?!

You can turn the volume up - it's a different procedure for the two versions of satnav, but on the DIS version, you need to press the up arrow on the control panel and you will hear the voice level increase. Must be similar on the TFT version - try pressing the up arrow whilst the lovely lady is talking to you.

Mine is the DIS system. Found the volume control in the settings, and can turn it up and down using the knob in the centre of the 4 buttons but unfortunately it makes not the slightlest difference!!

I think that volume setting is for level of mute you want between the sat nav voice over and the car audio volume level. Like I said, it's not documented in the manual, but when she is talking, press the up button. I've been there myself and thought I was deaf - the dealers weren't much help either.

oh ok! Sorry to sound ignorant, but which is the up button on the console by the handbrake? Or am I looking in the wrong place?

From memory, it's the button in front of the joystick (I have an earlier model without the joystick, so you could try moving the joystick forwards).

Sadly no luck, but cheers for the info. Tried twiddling the knob, pushing the DIS selection buttons up and down but she's still giving me the silent treatment. Not sure if going to a stealer is going to help but I guess that's my next move!

You could try loading another language and see if some of the other women have lost there voice. I quite like the Spanish girl......

I know it sounds stupid but these things must have a fair amount of memory and im sure the voices are loaded into memory. Maybe the sound file is corrupted......

Twas a good plan, but sadly already tried german and then back to english and it's having none of it! I'm gonna try putting the old disc in to see if she'll talk to me, but I'm not holding out too much hope!

PS Flowers and chocolates didn't work, she's accusing me of having an affair with the Snooper lady!!
