Audi Antenna To be powered or not be powered?

Post by DeadEye » Fri Mar 11, 2005 5:15 pm

Hello,

Trying to get a sensible answer to a question, I have changed my Concert Head Unit in my S3 (as well as adding a couple of amps, subs, components - pictures of install progress available).

on the way home from the Car Hifi shop, I yoinked the Concert out and plugged the new Apline head unit in. I listed to the radio on the way home - all very nice.

The only thing is now after fitting everything properly I cant get any signal on the radio at all!!! unless...i stick a screwdriver in the headunits antenna plug and use me as an antenna! If I touch the screw driver with the middle pin from the car antenna - this signal is killed.

Someone must now what the crack is?

From memory, the Audi/VW wiring is different from the standard, so the ariel will not be powered without the loom adapter which needs to be Audi specific, you will also find the new unti wont keep its memory as the key and perminent live are reversed.
