Sat Nav in RS4?

Post by RS4ge » Thu Feb 10, 2005 2:38 pm

My RS4 is standard and does not have sat nav. This is the only extra that I would have preferred so I'm considering fitting the Sat Nav plus.
I've read Dippy's excellent write up and it seems straight forward as the RS already has CD changer and Symphony.
Has anyone done this as a retro fit and would it make much difference to resale (not that I'm planning that ever at the moment :D ).
There's a unit currently on Ebay that I plan to check out.
Any comments?

I know there are TomTom units etc but phone + tomtom + road angel = no room for my fury dice!! :bash:

Or should I be considering an alternative to the Audi unit?

Just realised I probably should have posted this thread in the Electrical Forum - so if anyone wants to shift it there please do! Ta.

:bigwave: :biggrin3:
Mine does not have sat nav either, I use a Tom Tom which is actually better than any of the inbuilt systems I have in other cars, and probably far cheaper....

I don't think it adds any value to the car in terms of resale unfortunately - one of the reasons I'm still undecided on whether or not to do it!

IMO it will not add monetary value but will be of higher perceived value when you decide to sell.

I agree that adding to resale value is unlikely. That's why I have kept my Symphony and SatNavIII so I can put them back and sell off the SatNav+ in the future.

Doing this retrofit is expensive (especially if you buy from the UK) and needs a bit of work, so be sure you REALLY want SatNav first.

I have no doubt that aftermarket Nav unit offer better functionality. The reason to go SatNav+ is the "OEM look" and full integration with the rest of the car (antennas, DIS etc.).
