how do you turn off the nice lady's voice in the Nav Plus ?

Post by Mike_K » Mon Jan 31, 2005 7:54 pm

Ive done the usual stuff in the Audio setup menu, turned the Navigation volume all the way down (and also tried Mute), but eventually she always comes back and tells me which way to go !!

I want to somehow mute the navigation voice so that even if I adjust the volume whilst she is giving a direction (even when muted) then it does not alter the Navigation volume (ie she stays muted forever)

Is this possible somehow ??

I would have thought setting Mute would do it but it seems to be over-ridden.

thanks,, mike

Go to the volume settings screen and turn the volume range right down is the only way I think.
I'm not sure if you can turn it right off or not. Might be worth asking the dealers if they know of any user configurable modes (a bit like the anti highjack door locking options).

I'm pretty sure you can only turn her voice right down in the Nav settings section. Its not possible to disable her totally!
If it aint broke then dont try to fix it!

I'm sure that there is a way to turn her off completely. Is this a CD or DVD Sat Nav unit?
Cheers,

its the CD 'standard' unit that came on a late 2003 S4 (B6) , big colour screen

In the audio setup menu there is an option titled "Navigation Min Volume", has 2 buttons <change> and <Mute>. Invariably I select Mute which is fine for the journey I'm on, but next time I start the car "she" is usually speaking to me again - when I check the menu the min volume setting has increased and has changed to the <change> option. It seems that when I inadvertently adjust the volume knob it overrides the MUTE setting.

Seems a bit daft really; you'd have thought there would be a way to permanently mute her. Bit like real life really. :?

Good point kc.

use the change setting - this means that at start up the volume will change to the one you want - set it right down to the min and it should start up with her in a quiet contemplative voice
