Factory Fitted Alarm System - Category 1 or 2?

I've had a good car insurance quote - one of the conditions is that the car is fitted with a Thatcham Category Two Immobiliser. Is the standard S4 alarm Category 1 or 2? Rather than buy a category 2 immobiliser....

I know that the RS4 alarm is top whack Thatcham cat1 alarm system, and I would have thought the S4 would have the same, but I'm sure that it will no doubt have a cat2 immobiliser at the very least. Your insurance company should be able to check anyway.

It was a broker that told me the RS4 alarm was listed as cat1 and that I should always declare it as that rather than a factory fitted alarm since some companies don't look at the thatcham listings!

Looking at the link above, it seems that the S4 is listed in the category2 section (p19) - only an imobiliser, whereas the RS4 is in category1 (p7)

Hope this helps
