Sat Nav Versions

Want to get an upgrade cd for my nav. Been reading all sorts of posts on sat nav, still can't work out which version I have.

It's standard sat nav (no tv screen) and I want to find out if it's version BNS4.x or 3.x? The car is a march '01 RS4 which seems to be about when they changed over so really can't tell.

Is there anyway of finding out the version number like on the nav plus? Also, is it likely to have the TMC? Or is the only way to ask an audi dealer (god please no!) :bash:

Cheers guys,

Rob

According to www.teleatlast.co.uk you have the 3.x

I had the Audi SatNav in my TT also March '01 and it was 3.x i.e non DX. This means it didn't have any input for post codes which the later ones do. I don't think TMC was an option then it's very unlikely.

Teleatlas is slightly confusing because it says pre April 01 is 3.x, however when you actually look at the software details it says compatible with A4 pre 10/2000 so I don't know quite what to believe!!

As I understand it, the only way to get TMC on the standard (non-plus) Nav unit, is to have the full height Symphony radio fitted. The TMC signal is provided by the radio HU. The TMC module used with Nav+ is not compatible with the standard Nav. In any case, TMC is only available with BNS 4.x.

I have the symphony radio (double din) just need to find out if the nav is 3.x or 4.x and this is not proving easy!!!

Okay - you might be in luck then. VAG-COM should be able to tell you what version nav you have. Are you located within reach of the Reading area? I would be happy to plug my VAG-COM in for you.
