Phatnoise Install

Post by Krammer002 » Mon Apr 19, 2004 11:27 pm

I thought I read that one member has had a 'Phatnoise' MP3 package fitted to RS6.
I have Sat Nav Plus with glove box CD changer, does anyone know if 'Phatnoise' can be installed in addition to CD?

You're probably thinking of me!

No, PhatBox replaces the CD changer. For me, this wasn't a problem - I never used original CDs in the car, so if I copy a disc, I might as well put it on the PB cartridge, rather than burning a CDR.

I don't think there's any facility for connecting up two remote changers. I guess that it would be feasible to design/build a switch box, but I don't know of anyone who's done that. The power output from the HU may not be sufficient to power both the PB and the changer, in which case the power would need to be switched along with the audio and control signals. This would result in the PB having to 'cold boot' every time it's switched on.
