Where has everyone had there installs done and who do you recommend.

I was going to go to my local Car Hi-fi Centre in Cheltenham. They have done my last two installs and are amazing - but very pricey. I am looking for quality at a great price and do not mind travelling...

This will be the set-up

Allready ready to go in....

Genesis 'Nukes' my bespoke Genesis amp almost 1 metre long, has Stereo 60, Dual Mono 60 and monoblock all in one beautifull Genesis case (picture attached)

Alpine CVA-1004R
Alpine TUE-T152
Alpine KCE-104V
Alpine DVA-5205P
Playstation 2

I also have a Alpine screen (spent ages and ages moulding it into a footrest for the RX-7, which I am noe selling to make way for the RS4..Doh ! ) I will sell the Screen and buy two new ones for the headrests.

Finally I have 6.5 Focal 165v Slim line components and JL audio XR 5*7 components - both aare new but I am sure will not fit in the RS4 - what are the speaker sizes

So I am looking for a quality car audio shop which can fit all the above, two screens in headrests, 2 10w6v2's or simular in a boot install and just do a cracking job..

Whwn I get a quote from the car hi-fi centre I will post it as I am sure it will be very funny.

Picture of my Genesis attached..

It depends on what parts you have and what you want I guess

If you dont mind travelling, have a look at sqplus.com in Manchester.

they have won all sorts of awards etc etc. I recommend them! Used to do all the installs for Dimma.com (remember, the old 205 T16 wide body kits with the turbo technics conversions......

All of my install was done by Technicar in Sheffield www.technicar.ltd.uk

To outfit, but how good you want it is how long it takes which basically comes down to cost....

What size are the standard speakers in the RS4 and did people upgrade in terms of size as well as quality ?

RS4 comes with Bose, therefore no need to change them. I upgraded the sub though.

I'm running mine off a Directed (Not sure which model) and they are fine.... i.e. Headache sets in before I run out of volume.

Tom,

with that Genesis amp it would be criminal to retain the standard cones (Nokia's apparently). The Bose in my RS4 is driving me mad, even using the secret 8 band eq on my Symphony headunit I cannot believe a circa 50K car had such dire audio. Mind you my Carrera4 996 Factory upgrade is only a bit better.
Front speakers will fit 5 1/4 inch models with adapters. Make sure you add Dynamat Extreme in the doors too as it makes a difference with such an impressive amp.
Notice you intend to use the 4 volt pre-out upgrade for your screen, do you need it for the video switching too? If not perhaps a swap to the PXA-H700 (about to be superceded btw) or Audio Control's new 30 band per channel eq/parametric equaliser will be more appropriate. Later can deliver 7.5 volt RMS to the Genesis.

I intend to use Compact Car Audio in Aylesbury to fit my mostly Phoenix Gold/Diamond Audio system, when Alpine's new 2004 kit comes out as there is some really neat new toys on route. Mind you I am very audio biased, no screens or sat nav for me yet, purely on cost grounds!

Good luck with the install Tom, I am still fabricating my facia adapter so it matches the carbon on the dash.

Hope to witness your kit first hand soon,
James
