a have been meaning to post this since christmas.
i have fitted my dvd player in the glove box,run wires to the rear into the tv/sat nav box and now when you have the tv on by pressing mode it switches to dvd,or i can play cd's through the dvd player, which saves going to the boot to put a disk on a journey.

That is so cool... was it easy? Is there a resource for this or did you work it out? Can I do it on my RS6 do you think?
I don't know if I could be arsed to move the steering wheel over the other side though

What make/model is the player James? Have you put a switch in the GALA circuit?
Cheers

the gala switch is the next project, just waiting for keys.
its only a boss, but i needed something very small as there is no depth in the glove box.
i dont know about the rs6,i asked audi but when the rs4 was released there was no option for dvd so no factory fit, this means tracks ect have to be changed via remote control only the volume is on the dash.there may be a factory option for rs6,it will be expensive though, but probably worth it.
it was quite easy to do apart from the scary bit of cutting the glove box up and running wires to the boot.

I will be fitting a centurion dvd player model 1001 (price aprox £149.99)in my RS6 Avant(on the shelf in the boot above cd changer and the tv module) it will have a remote eye in the car to change tracks/start/stop etc.i will also be fitting a motorised 7"screen by necvox model 7269 (price aprox £379.99)in the center of the head lining . this center screen will transmit sound by infrared to headphones for rear seat passengers (if the front passengers want to listen to music)or it will put sound through the car speakers via a soundlinx connection cable part no vag01vid (price aprox £70.00)this same cable will also put a dvd picture to the front navi + screen (the cable plugs in to the tv tuner box in the boot).to see the dvd picture on the navi screen you select tv and then aux/video input i believe ! someone can correct me if i am wrong or i will post to confirm when i have finished installing it all.
The only cable i have not yet got is one made by Eurologics in the netherlands its name and part no is Z-B-1099-003 interface navi plus i am led to belive it un blocks the tv so it can be seen whilst driving with out having to cut in to the audi wiring loom (ie you keep all of your warranty in tact !!!!) SO if your navi+ unit goes wrong you just un plug the intermediate lead and put the loom back in to the head unit .
any way hope to get this all done next week and any of you folks that would like to see it can at the next essex meet
also going to fit a soundlinx aud01nok cable (a little expencive at £149.00) but should make my nokia car kit that is installed in the center arm rest to work fully with the bose sound system navi+ unit if any one has any questions either post them here or send them by private message to me on this site
ps. does any one know the audi part no for the keys to remove the navi plus unit ? or where else i can buy some as my local audi dealer isnt being very helpfull. !
cheers mark

I integrated my Motorola car kit into the Nav+/Bose without using any expensive cables/convertors. The car kit itself only cost me around £150!

I wish I could remember where I bought mine from. I got them from a web site, and they only cost around £7.
Ah - found the entry on my CC statement:
www.caraudiodirect.com, £7.98. However, I can no longer find the keys on their website.

A Google search for 'Audi radio removal keys' brings up a few sources, but they all seem to be more expensive than the ones I bought (I got two pairs for £7 + p&p).

Thanks peter looked on there site for a phone no and phoned car audio direct as you suggested and ordered 4 keys (£11.50 inc vat & p&p)they dont list them on there site so as to discurage
(i think thats how its spelt !)car radio thieves
anyway sorted now thanks mark
and as per car kit loom for my nokia this clever little bit of kit from soundlinx makes the phone work via the audi nav+ system just like factory fit phone prep and you dont have to cut in to any of the audi loom so keeping your warranty fully in tact.
and one more thing ive just bought the lead from eurologics in the netherlands (the one that lets you watch the tv/dvd whilst driving)for the passenger in the front of course 63 euros + shipping so thats sorted as well ! should be here in the next day or two

so again peter thanks

I'm pleased that's sorted, then.

Mmm, I didn't cut any wires either. I can return the wiring to standard without difficulty, and leaving no trace.
