AV inputs!

Have some limited info on connections for the satnav+ but would like to connect DVD to the AV input on the system on my RS6. Does anyone have any experiance of this? Can see that it needs to connect to the tuner in the boot but have only the RGB output pins on the wiring diagram that go to the head unit to provide the TV picture. The audi wiring diagram does not show the composite or svhs inputs on the multipin connector that plugs into the tuner? Any clues? Help much needed on this one!!! Check in this area mate.

But as far as the RS6 goes, in the RS4 boot their is a stack of kit, a sub, CD-Changer, and SatNAV+ Processor / TV Tuner. The SatNAV+ Box is a black painted metal box with a perforated front. If you can find this box in your RS6 then you are in luck! Remove it (In the RS4 it is held in with two torx screws on the front) And You will find the connectors located on the back. These being:

1 Pair Stereo RCA (Red + Black L+R)
1 Composite RCA Video in
1 Svideo in

do not use both the composite and svid in, this will cause crazy images! When you have plugged in you can display the input by depressing the right "volume" button on the SatNAV+ whilst on the TV function, selecting AV and the input you have plugged into the boot.

Best Regards

I was trying to fot an aftermarket tv tuner for a Sat Nav only and I was told that RGB connectors are only on the TV tuner not on the Sat Nav.

Thanks for that!!! Was told by garage that the inputs were not on the box in the boot so I will have the screwdrivers out tomo. I know it sound really stupid not looking but had investigated an a8 unit at the garage and it had no inputs hence the assumption that none was on rs6. Will let you know! Mikey, any help would be welcome!
I am told by Audi Australia that the TV connects to the Sat nav via a multi plug system and the RGB is on the TV unit. So as I have only At nav in my wife'e Allroad, I can not connect a Playstation wihtout getting a TV tuner first. I could get an aftermarket TV tuner for next to nothing but it needs the RGB input. my e-mail is
bako@matra.com.au
Cheers

Well spend all day at the dealers fixing an a8 tv system for them then turned my attention to my RS6 tv system. We took it out and found no connections on the rear or anywhere for that matter!!! It would seem that the multipin connector on the rear of the tuner is how you get video into the unit but having looked at the wiring diagrams audi only list the pins they use and not the unconnected one's This takes me back to square one again. What I need is a break out lead for this as someone must know the pin outs/in for this connector. Am trying other companies for help on this, any clues? I really thought this was going to be an easy one!! Have the pins for the head unit but this is no use as the tuner is connected to this and it would mess the system up to break into this connection

Kind Regards

Mike

Found it!!! Go to http://www.tvwiz.net/navigation/index.html
and it tells all in the tv tuner index! One slight problem is I don't speak german and am having some problems ordering the lead from the supplier in so much that I can't read the page!! Perhaps someone can help? The link is http://www.oettinger-mobile.de/produkte ... /index.htm or https://ssl.kundenserver.de/s25259050.e ... shopscript Not sure why you did not get mail but sent to the mail you posted! Translated (ish) version of the Oettinger page

Can I build a re-tooling radio into the new AUDI with CAN bus?

YES, you can insert yourself the radio however must you without the s-contact, clamp 58, and the v-signal do. S-contact = key contact, so that after radio take off from that the key goes out

Clamp 58 = lighting of the Radio's, without this contact shines at night for nothing

V-signal = for your speed-dependent Laustaerkenanpassung

These signals are transferred by the CAN bus, these 3 connections have you now at your NEW radio, but at the new AUDIS for it NO MORE connections are there!!!

CAN bus means:

Can=Controll AREA network!

Develops on a twisted two-wire line, a Rs-486 or a serial interface!

Defines layer 1+2 of the Iso/osi of model!

Thus the Physical Layer (1)

and the DATA left Layer (2)!

a CSMA/CD proceeded! (carrier scythe multiple Acess/collision detection)

In terms of hardware there are three plugs:

-9 pin Dsub plugs

-5 pin mini C plugs

-6 pin German Dt04-6p plug

ADAPTER gives it with OETTINGER under www.oettinger mobile.de

With AUDIs starting from model year 2001 tuner is the following pin allocation with the TV:

To measure at pin 54 the main plug directly at work the TV tuner in the trunk:

Pin 47
Audio signal left

Pin 48
Audio signal right

Pin 49
Audio signal mass AND video signal mass

Pin 50
S-Video home system-entrance (Y)

Pin 51
S-Video home system-entrance (C)

Pin 52
Video signal entrance (CVBS)

Pin 53
Screen mass for audio & video signal
