I've got one of those. What settings did you use for the CDA, weight, rolling resistance etc?

IIRC CDA 0.69 , weight 2711 (half tank, me ~65kg ~130lbs?), rolling resistance 0.015.

The key is to find a good place to do the runs. I launch at a busstop that joins a 100kmph twolane road. not the best place but suitable. And it should be flat the whole time.

On my spot there is a small incline(?) (downhill, sorry not sure about the word) about 10 meters and then flat again witch should give only slightly underrated numbers.
If its flat all the way it does not matter if its uphill or downhill if its not steep.

Yesterday I got 0.9g with stock clutch when I did 0-100kmph. Run too long first gear actually slowering the speed at that point but still 5.5sec. Should get better with good shift.

Hey mate, why have you got the weight at 2711? Unladen vehicle weight is 1620kg..... so reckon on 1750kg max inc fuel and driver.

I've got one of these boxes too - tried it once then the novelty factor wore off ..

my best time was about 6.2, but it was slightly up hill, and i dont like giving it a full monty launch :-p

Neat gizmo tho!

How much config changes did you guys mess around with on yours? Would be good to get a comparison with some of the GPS 0-60 and 0-100 to see if they match up.

IMHO rolling 30-100 is by far the best measurement to take - no launches, good speed range and achievable on our roads quite easy, and also easy to compare some of the data to rolling road plots if you have any done in this range. It's something I will work on over the next week or so, see if we can nail some accurate figures down that are qualified

Andiroo

It was just an estimate. Is unladen "all but driver"? BTW I have 98 MY witch was 30 kg lighter than facelift model. 98 was 1530kg base and my registration paper says 1641 witch must be with full tank and all accessories (a/c...)?

30-100 in what gear? Third will just do it but I guess fourth would be better for non chipped guys.

Launching with stock clutch with 94tkm is difficult. I dont want to abuse my drive train with 3000rpms drop but I cant really slip my clutch either. It glaces really easily.

I've used the unladen weight for an RS4 to give you an idea, but 2711 is far too much and will considerably effect the figures you will get. Based upon your figures 1710/1720 would be about right.

30-100mph, yes I reckon a 4th gear pull will be the most consistant for comparisons

Post by smurfbus » Wed Oct 15, 2003 3:55 pm

thats how its like when you dealing with to different units!

that 2711 was 3701 lb when I checked it witch is about ~1678 kg so I will change it to 1710kg before I log again.

I might try 0-200kmph + 30-100mph next weekend if its dry.

easy done mate, I had my CdA at 0.34 (Cd only) until I realised I had to multiply it by the CsA for the right 6.9 figure.

What I would like to do is to get some comparisons on a like for like basis, on most if not all our RS & S models, and see if we get get some benchmark (believable) figures for our members to study. Send me a PM if you guys (or indeed anyone with an AP22 or GPS setup) are interested in helping out

Eh? CdA is just Cd x frontal area. I think the frontal area is about 2.1m^2, which makes the CdA about 0.7.
