Ive been watching this (and Trip comp)

Trip comp never surfaced, and doenst seem likely to!

and this one (EFU)is not for CANBUS cars yet.

have a look in the 2.7 T S4 forum boost gauge topic, I found a link to a stand alone digital red Lcd display, expensive , just need a place to fit it.

Yeah, ive looked through the S4 boost gauge post and this EFU one wasnt mentioned on it. The red led one is good but dont see how it would integrate into my S3.
Really looking for someone here in the UK that has installed one or has one and possibly a distributer.

any ideas anyone

Looks nicely integrated.

Just one small thing - why did you put the site through the Google translator ? It seemed to make a right old hash of things - especially since there is an English page there already

Mo...
A3/S3 and TT is to be noted that EFU is supported at present only until model year 2001 (July 2001).
(after this, Cars like mine are CANBUS and comms are different, and currently not catered for.)

Carps...

Last time i went to main site, it was only the front page they translated into English.

Just something from their website...

A crucial innovation will represent the availability of the CAN version. Planned EFU G2 appears presumably at the beginning of of 2003 and - apart from the past possibilities - further interesting auxiliary functions will offer:

The equipment - appropriate configuration of the combination instrument is presupposed - which can use entire FIS display. The indicated measured values are represented more largely and are better readable thereby. A full-graphic solution as shown is aimed at above.
Some measured values require no more own giver modules, since the information can be read from the CAN bus. The assembly simplifies.
The operation is continued to simplify, as also still the windshield wiper interval switch is also included into the system. Over its position functions can be selected purposefully. With the FIS jack can be leafed then both through the FIS, as well as through EFU into both directions.
In the lower FIS line information straight of transacted attitudes can be faded in. Similarly as with the current announcement of the selected radiosenders, then also exact attitudes are e.g. possible for the air conditioning system, without having to look on the center console.
EFU G2 will support additionally also the past 3-Leiter-Bus. Owners of older vehicles have then the possibility of using many of the new functions also.
Modern communication possibilities such as BlueTooth and language control can be merged optionally.
The announcement of arbitrary information of external devices is supported. For example MP3-Titel and Playlists, as well as telephone information.
Past customers receive an attractive Upgrade offer on new EFU G2.

I think that the point is that we're well past the beginning of 2003, and that page hasn't been updated in ages. The prognosis isn't good!

If it ever does happen then I'll be very pleased to purchase.

I may have a go, but I suspect that their English will be somewhat better than my German!

Hi

I nearly did the deal to be the UK distributor for the EFU unit in the UK

However there are several problems, no canbus model yet - and IMHO it may never surface because of lots of problems getting the data not to upset other items in the vehicle

Also for older models if you have sat nav it will not work, so the market place is older model pre-2001 without sat nav, IMHO a very small market

I think that the cost of £300-400 for the hardware with basic oil temp/boost/voltage would be ideal for say TT owners (the guy who invented it is a german TT owner, I have spoken to him but his english is poor) and then I think this is too much money, it is OK if you take all of the 8 possible add ons turbo temp/intake temp/oil pressure etc but on a twin turbo car there are currently no real devices for sensing this information suitably

So I decided to look at investing £400-500 in an on board PC and then create an audi type user interface that logged into VAG-Com or similar and used those results. My initial findings are that running VAG COM permanently can cause problems so the quest continues

I think if all you want is a boost guage there are a few that seem pretty neat and at around £200 seem a bettter option, if you want more I think the EFU tool will be OK for the 1.8T engine as the designer has one so can test till his heart is content - when he overcomes the CAN BUS issue. For all others forget it.

Hope this helps

Cheers

The one that was fitted in my RS4 is an HKS gauge. It has been fitted to the bottom of the windscreen pillar on the drivers side. Here's a pic
