Garmin Street Pilot III

Am looking to get one of these portable nav devices but as usual trying to find the best deal. Normal price appears to be £999 with a couple of on-line stores offering as low as £920. Have also seen them offered on eBay purporting to be brand new, UK spec and sellers have good reviews for £765. Anybody any input or experience of buying something like this off eBay? Is it worth the risk and will I be OK providing I pay by credit card?

Why don't you buy a Ipaq and sat-nav unit which is about the same cost but better and you get the benefits of a PDA unit as well. I have one of these for work and can't fault it. Version 2 has just come out see address below.

John got mine from Maplin at £799 with the accesories and a 32mb card, suggest you try them or Mr BB, i mentioned to him that you were looking for one, he said he would sell.

John, Presumably the £799 was excluding VAT?

forgot to say it comes with a 128mb card with the whole of the UK on it and so no downloads for particular areas.
