Charging the battery through the 12v Power Outlet

Post by S4quattroCab » Thu Jul 20, 2017 9:12 pm

Hi All,

Does anyone know if you can charge the battery through the 12v Power Outlet socket in the boot of a B6 S4 cab using a suitable charger designed for the purpose. (It will be a ctek). I have read on the net that people have said as long as the outlet still has power to it when the ignition is off then it will work but wasn't sure if that was 100% correct.

Thanks in advance.

There is a Cataeak cigarette plug adaptor. I'm pretty sure one of the Graeme's on the forum charged his old B7 using the 12v socket (not sure if it was the boot one.

It's worth a bit more of an internet search to see what's possible, but I would expect it to work as the 12v socket is always live even with ignition off.

Maybe check it beforehand by plugging a phone charger in or something beforehand.

Thanks marc1. I have ordered the 7A Ctek with cigarette plug adapter. Will see how it goes.

Thanks
