Trying to figure out why Audi didn't provide any audio track-control <</>> buttons on the steering wheel. Any hints how work around? I have seen multiple S-line wheels that had those buttons (or at least something that looks like next/prev buttons).
My wheel looks like that. There is an empty square under the mode button - I wonder if there is an entire module that contains these buttons and fits the left wheel module I have here...
Now I have to use the tiny volume knob on the right edge of the center console (I'm LHD) - inconvenient - especially that you always reach out to your passenger's leg when trying to find it
RS4 B8 steering wheel controls missing prev/next?

Oh mate that must be annoying! It's one of my pet hates with the car but yours being on the other side is a whole load worse. Following this.

Doesn't the left hand scroll wheel select tracks when the DIS is in the audio screen?
Re: RS4 B8 steering wheel controls missing prev/next?
I wish it did... or if it does, I wasnt able to find out. I mostly listen to music via bluetooth-enabled phone (android here), and the left scroll was doing absolutely nothing. I will give a try with SD card or ... if I can find any - a CDMikeFish wrote:Doesn't the left hand scroll wheel select tracks when the DIS is in the audio screen?

I wouldn't have expected the steering wheel or any other button to change tracks on your phone but that might be just be me being a bit backwards with Bluetooth control functionality as I never use it.
But if the centre console buttons change tracks then I'd expect the steering wheel to allow this too. So just to be clear, can you change tracks on your phone using the centre console? If so, can you change the display of the DIS to show track information? And if when on this screen you use the left hand scroll wheel what happens?

As Mike says, the left hand scroll wheel does the track selection function like it does for radio channels, press it to confirm selection. Well it does for CD,SD and HDD anyway.

Re: RS4 B8 steering wheel controls missing prev/next?
as you guys said - left scroll wheel does that for radio and for SD. The bad thing is that I cannot simply select "next random" thing. Great if you are looking for a specific song. Bummer...
I verified the behavior when connected (via bluetooth) to iphone or samsung - scroll wheel does nothing except bringing up the song details, but does not allow you to change anything:
However, if you go to media menu on main screen and select functions, then you can navigate to next button and just keep it highlighted - so that if you want to randomly select next song all you need to do is to press the knob. Of course random play has to be activated prior to that.
I am ordering mmi interface cable with micro usb to check if this is going to be the same when connecting samsung via cable...
