My beep has gone

Always used to give a little beep when locking or unlocking my B8 S4. The locking is fine but the beep has suddenly gone. Flashing LEDs in the doors all OK. Can't see an option on the MMI and I don't have
Vagcom. Any idea what's happened and how I can get my beep back ?

Software update during a service, or maybe preferences reset after a new battery?
Either way, best bet is to just re=code it with
VCDS (I know you don't have it, but maybe get a local member to help?). Failing that, could be a faulty wire to what I presume is a stand-alone speaker for the alarm.
