AMI Retrofit

Thinking of this on a 2009, MMI 2G Audi S4. It has the 6 disk CD multichanger in the dash. Nothing at al in the glovebox, and no SD cards that I can see (DVD sat nav in the boot).
Has anyone done it ?
Will I need a new glovebox ?
Are there any fitters (non-Audi) in the South West (I know there's a guy in Manchester) ?

As for connectivity my aim is to attach a USB SSD hard drive with my entire music library on (11,000 tracks). Will MMI read the MP3 tags or will I only get that sort of information using an IPod (or similar) instead ?

Cheers

Can anyone help ?

I've now had it confirmed I have MMI 2G High with DVD satnav. Plain glovebox.
Apparently it's now stupidly expensive to retrofit OEM AMI as need retrofit kit (£300+) + new glovebox (£240) + leads + USB device

But I might be able to extract a new AMI unit from it's cradle, mount that behind the glovebox, make a hole in the latter to bring a couple of connection leads through and just have a hard disk (or Ipod) loose in the glovebox (I could velcro it down). At least I wouldn't need a new glovebox.

Or has anyone fitted one of the VNS Media AMI equivalents ? I've seen the video but that only shows connectivity and not the full install (does thir unit live beyond the dash mounted unit - I doubt it somehow.

Can anyone help - this is getting ever more complicated.

Cheers
