B8 RS4 insturment cluster lights

just got my new B8 RS4 and a slight niggle is the the backlighting on the instument cluster does not come on unless the headlight are on or on auto i have checked the setting via Vag Com and it is set to needles on scale on but the rev couter and speedo are not iluminated is this correct i know this was the case for my B7 which was a bit frustrating as i would like the speedo iluminated all the time with out having the headlights on or on auto
