Rnse sat nav problems

Post by swannny » Fri Mar 08, 2013 8:08 am

Hey guys,

Does anyone know what I can do to fix my latest mishap please?!

I have an rnse which had the original 2004 nav discs in, I bought the genuine 2012 discs from a fellow member and they worked perfect in his car, I put the Europe one in mine and it downloaded the firmware update ok, but it couldn't read the navigation part of the disc.

When I put the old map back in, it can't read that either now! Is it worth me just getting an a3 one, change the faceplate over and have an led screen, or is there something I can do to fix this one?

Many thanks

Lee.

Sounds like either they are "genuine copies" or you have a laser that is either very dirty and needs a clean or is failing.

That's because the map format was changed in 2005 and the new firmware can't read the old map discs - there's a warning about this on all the new map disc jewel cases.

You need a new map disc of your own, and to try cleaning the laser lens. If you can't read the new disc then, you'll need to fit a replacement DVD drive.

hi Dave,

many thanks, as usual!

ill go and get a lens cleaner from town today and try. there's an auction on the bay for genuine nav discs for £55, so i may give them a try.

but in all honesty, i'm really thinking of getting the led screen anyway, and prob selling this one on.

thanks again guru! :biggrin3:
