Still don't understand why some have the ''pop'' yet others don't

Depends on if the inputs are AC coupled (which will have a capacitor to charge up and hence will cause the pop), or DC coupled (which won't pop).

I have spoke to a local radio installer today. He said that i might have to put a special diode in the power feed to the amp that will slow release the voltage, ''soft start''?? He couldn't tell me which type of diode so popped into Maplins by me, young lad at the technical support desk didn't have a bloody clue what i was on about.

Never come across a soft start device you can put in the power lead to an amp.

The popping isn't the worst thing in the world so will just search for a solution.
