...so cruise fitted and warrantied by Audi comes in at a smidge over £240. Not bad really -

Not bad? That's "bite their hand-off" territory IMO.

What is going on with the dealer when he tells you it's impossible - eh are these guys so incompetent or what?

I'd like Audi customer services to explain how they guarantee we will get quality experienced techs working on our quite frankly over priced cars at over priced labour rates.

I spoke to Jim at Star Performance on this issue when I couldn't find his price on their web site they charge £195 + VAT. It's an hours work, so yes, he's making a pound but that's a reasonable price, it's his busyness.

He told me that Camerons Audi in Perth (Scotland) couldn't fit cruise to a new V8 S4. So they've given it to him. Fair enough his son a Toyota time served tech spent 6 hours figuring it out but he says now that he knows it won't take him so long next time!

My S4 will never go back to an Audi dealership if I can help it. You can keep your FASH it's worth f##k all to me.

I'd rather see a specialists stamp on a service book.

I got my car back on Thursday, and the Cruise was fitted and works as speced. As you'd expect, you can't tell anyone has been tampering, and it worked out £20 less than originally quoted too ! A top job.

There was a downside, but that's another story that Epsom Audi are now going to sort out.

I'd rather see a specialists stamp on a service book.

That's my philosophy too. However my local specialist is a bit too busy these days for my liking so I currently plan to get my first Audi service stamp in a few 000 miles.
