Self dimming rear vision mirror question

Post by Druggie » Tue Jan 24, 2006 1:56 pm

My rear vision mirror is a self dimming one in my S4. However a few nights ago I noticed that a oval shaped part of the mirror had no dimming effect and was blurry to look at. The following night only a small strip remained. Has this happened to anyone? Is my mirror stuffed?

Ps it is very cloudy and objects viewed through the mirror are very blurry?
Cheers

Sounds like you need a new mirror, or maybe just needs a clean :P

I was going to do this but did not get around to it. I was going to take one out of my old S4 and put it in the new one.

Maybe some one has a wiring diagram or can say if the connector is in place in non-equiped cars

forgot to mention that the dimming ability is lost and the mirror no longer has that dark tint look to it.

Has anyone had such a failure before?

sorry can't help with a fix but it's worth checking fuses & that it has power. Failing that it's probably goosed.

I'm interested to know if it can be retrofitted too though...

Just confirmed by Audi service that the liquid in the LCD leaked and has left a blurry residue. Cant be fixed. New unit required.
Has anyone replaced theirs?
Can someone recommend a place to get one online?
Thanks
Cheers
