Better off with a 4B0 035 192 P for an RS4, they fit better where the symphony comes out, but still leaves a small gap at the edges.

If you want a perfect fit without having to do mods, you need an 8D0 035 192 x, which are the old CD-based units. If you have your heart set on a DVD unit, expect to have to do some extra work to fit it.

Be careful with the different models, the 8E0 from a b6 takes the speed pulse from the canbus, where as a 4B0 unit can take it from the gala signal, which is what you want with the B5.

Get in touch with craigyB on the www.tyresmoke.net forum, he will tell you what you need exactly, he can fit it all for you if you want too, he has put them in A2s etc. that never had them either.

Prof, there are two issues:
1) The fascia
2) The electrical connection

A B5 S4/RS4 can only take an 8D0 unit without any significant work.
It can take a 4B0, 4D0 or even a 3L0 but needs the fascia trimmed or gaps filled. Ideally you need either a custom fascia or one from an 8D0.
It can take an RNS-E 4B0, but still needs some fascia work and maybe some wiring changes (Craig knows about it)
It can take an RNS-E 8E0, but still needs some fascia work and won't function correctly without a CAN interface

If you really want the OEM look without much effort, you need an 8D0 unit
