Park sensors

Post by NortheastS4 » Tue Mar 08, 2005 11:48 am

Hi all
Just got my car back from it's MOT and the park sensors dont seem to work.
When i engage reverse i hear the beep then a high pitch tone for a few seconds then nothing...
any ideas folks?

Thanx

P.S. I don't think the MOT had anything to do with it, just coincedence i hope.

The high pitched tone means an error has been detected. You need to check for DTCs. The most likely problem is a wiring open/short. Try reaching in behind the bumper and adjusting the wiring/connectors. This may fix it (I had the same problem and I solved it this way).

That happened to me too. I took mine to Audi and they did the same thing as above. However, my wiring had to be redone, because the wiring from the factory was installed wrong. If you want too, take it to Audi, because it could happen again. They didn't charge me anything, and now I know it is fixed right.

I did however, not own it at the time when we had to bring it in to get the sensors fixed, but I was with him at Audi. We were not charged.

useful info Dippy (thanks),

I think I have the same on my S4(B6). Started off with the "higher pitched" beep from somewhere in the back seat when reversing, but not continuously and not every time. Now a couple of days later the PDC system doesnt "beep" when I put it in reverse. Havent checked yet if its still working or not but I'll assume not !

Under warranty still so I'll have a quick look for obvious loose wires then take it in to be fixed...
