Bluetooth

Post by hamski » Wed Dec 12, 2007 9:44 am

Apparently there's no cradle to fit my phone onto the dash mount (Nokia 6300), so I'm unable to use the phonebook function on screen as it is greyed - all other functions are fine.

Does anyone know a way around this?

Thanks

The lack of a cradle does not prevent the phonebook transfer to the Audi sat nav (RNS-E). I don't have a cradle and my phonebook and call lists are transferred to the screen from my HTC TyTN II.

There are three possible reasons:
1) you have an old version of the phone module (suffix D).
2) your phone module is incorrectly coded - this can be checked and corrected (if 1 above is OK) in less than 5 minutes with VAG-COM.
3) your phone does not support the transfer of phonebook via bluetooth. I'm pretty certain this is not the case with your Nokia 6300.

Never disappointed by the wealth of info on here - thanks for that.

How do I check the version I have?

Thanks

Either by getting into the electronics box under the seat (!), or by using VAG-COM.

Looking back at some of your post, your RS4 is a MY 2007 so you will have one of the later bluetooth modules. But there is a chance that the Nokia 6300 is not fully compatible.

Have a look at this thread on navplus there is a list of phones that have been tested by craigyb and other members and found to be compatible.

The Nokia 6300 isn't shown on that list.

I'd check the coding, and if that's OK then it's a phone problem.

It can be solved on some (not all) Nokia phones by downloading an add-on from the Nokia website.

Thanks Guys

Up until last week I used a 6300 with no issues. Phone broke and was replaced, but this one doesn't work in the same way. Reading the manual, it indicates that it needs to be in the cradle, but I know that's not right.

I'll get the coding checked over Christmas.

Cheers

Graham

Soz for the thread Hijack, how easy is it to install a Audi bluetooth function in a Mar 2006 model, as mine had no GSM/BT prep!
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

It's not that hard, you will need to fit a wiring harness, mic & bluetooth module, you would then need to code the navigation & the bluetoooth module using vag-com
