Anyone retrofitted Navi with TV to B7 RS4?

Post by rs4-sson » Sat Mar 17, 2007 6:02 pm

Just bought a B7 RS4 with no nav. Assuming buying the Navi and retorfitting is an option, can you guys tell me what bits (part numbers would be a bonus) I would need, cost and where to get them cheapest (ebay germany?)

Thanks in advance for your help

I retrofitted the OEM nav (RNS-E) to my B7 RS4 (parts from sellers on www.navplus.us), but didn't see the point of the TV option since it's analogue only and that starts getting turned off later this year.

If you have a Symphony then it's a dead easy retrofit, but if you only have a singe DIN radio then you have to do some modifications to the centre console as well.

Thanks for the info - as you know I also posted on the navplus forum and have received some replies there also.

Thanks again

PS - I had Nav+ in my B5 RS4 here in Sweden and analogue transmission was switched off 18 months ago. I would have thought that the TV tuner in the B7 RS4 would have been a digital one since everybody knew (maybe even Audi!) some time ago that analogue was on the way out.

Do you know if there are any plans for the TV receivers to be digital?

Not for the RS4, as the B7 platform is doomed and the B8 is out very soon based on the MLP chassis, then Audi will not make a digtal TV tuner for the RS4 or B7 platform. They already have one for the B8, as they have digital/analogue TV for the A6/A8/Q7 and this will be used in the A5/A4 when it switches to MMI.

Unfortunately this tuner is not compatible with the A4 B7 chassis
