off-the-wall Boost gauge idea

Post by shineydave » Sun Oct 08, 2006 12:25 am

just had one of those brandy fuelled flashes of creativity and just wondered if my moment of madness could be of use to someone.

i spotted a post in the RS6 forum about tyre pressure sensors which got me to thinking what other things could be monitored by those tyre pressure sensing systems. wouldn't it be cool to be able to pop one in the inlet tract and use it to monitor boost pressure through the DIS or am i talking b**lox?

Doesn't the tyre pressure monitor work be sensing a change in rotational speed due to deflation, not acutal pressure?

What i have seen is that the refresh rate of the tyre pressure sensors is so slow, you would see the turbopressure of 5 minutes ago!

Maybe if someone could make a sensor that works in actual time it would be handy....
An opinion is like an asshole, everybody has got one.

But you can get a system already that can display boost etc etc on the DIS?

yup but this wouldn't require any wiring or add-on modules, just programming of the sensor in the DIS
