You can only sync your phone book via bluetooth if your RNS-E / phone module / phone support it.

1. Your RNS-E should be running SW 360 or higher (Disk 2005_2) and be coded xxx7xx for a C/F phone module
2. Your phone module has to be the C or F revision and be coded 001xxxx to enable "High" mode.
3. Your phone must support bluetooth handsfree profile and GSM extensions.

As you have a 6230 I know you qualify for at least the 3rd option.

Only VAG can tell you about options 1 & 2

Craig thanks for that to uprade the RNS is it purely a matter of putting a later disk? and will it update the firmware automatically?

Is this the latest software for the RNS A4 8P0 919 884J?

Last question is there a difference between the software on the RNS between the different AUDI models?

Sorry for all the questions but thanks for all your help

Putting in a new disk will update the firmware, but you may still need a recode. Also, do you know if you have a C or F module?

Yes it will, but as for the C/F module, only Audi or VAG diagnostics will tell you what is installed.

Thanks for all your help the car is going back into Audi next week, is there anything else that I should ask apart from the items above, and is there a way of making the microphone more sensitive as people are struggling to hear me?

Also I have just brought a new nokia 8800 has that phone encountered any issues with the phone prep

Thanks

I've got a Nokia 6230i and it syncs ok via blue tooth and downloads the phone book/received calls/ dialled numbers etc.

I tried to buy the adaptor, but got told that there was a problem with a batch of chips and it will not be available until July ish so for the moment it is bluetooth - no charger .... which is toss on a brand new car.

Although the phone syncs, I still have no access to the other numbers of any one person - e.g. I might have their mobile, but not home or work - this is really frustratiing and I cannot find a way to cycle through the various entries for any one person.

Anyone out there found the same, or is it just me???

OK, I have applied a 2006 disk and now the screen has a small sim logo appearing in the middle at the bottom but still getting "please use your handset" on the screen and no phone control

When I take the car back to the dealers on Wednesday I will get them to:
Check which phone module I have
code xxx7xx on the RNS
code 001xxxx to enable "High" mode on the phone module

Is there a way of increasing the microphone sensitivity within VAG?

Should I get them to check or update anything else whilst they have the car

Thanks

Dom

I've found a glitch with syncing via blue tooth - the RNS-E simply does not appear to do it correctly - a software glitch I believe. As soon as I physically place the phone in the cradle, all is fine and the address book downloads perfectly.
