Buying an S2 3B engine

Hello All,
I am going to look at an S2 3B engine tomorrow for a UR quattro upgrade.
Can anybody tell me where the engine number(s) is located and also some obvious things to look out for (i.e. signs that it may be knackered). The engine is out of the donar car so i will obviously check that it manually turns over, that the turbo is not siezed, the oil is ok and also that the plugs are not showing signs of major under/overfuelling. Anything else that may be a good thing to check on these engines?
