S2 Upgrade

Post by Sam » Wed Nov 12, 2003 6:24 pm

Hello All,

I Sold my brand new Alfa V6 and bought my S2 last November from a friend who had own it for 2 yrs previously, this was after 6 months of persuasion after spending 4 days in the passenger seat on the way to and from Nuremberg!

Having bought the S2 I decided it should go quicker especially now since Koni shocks and H&R springs had been added preventing any body roll at all.

I got through Xmas without too many problems and in the spring was looking into what I could do, one morning it just wouldn't start!

After 6 weeks of being off the road and various mechanics in Nottingham telling me it was an electrical fault I borrowed a trailer and took the car to QST - Kim Collins. The car was back on the road within a day, I then started to have modifications done, starting with the MTM 300bhp chip! Which made a difference! but unfortunately went through the old parts over the following 3 months e.g. Lambda sensor, radiator, Turbo hoses, Dump Valve, brake accumulator and a few other minor bits.

The biggest problem I have is finding somebody in Nottingham that A) knows what an S2 is and B) is willing to work on it... any ideas please let me know?

Since all this I have had a miltek exhaust fitted, catalysts removed new RS4 wheels and TOYO's, Black Diamond Discs and EBC Red Stuff Pads

Not had chance to get to a 4x4 rolling road but think I'm kicking out approx 330-340 bhp!

Since September every thing has been relatively stable! Having spent 4 days at Nuremberg including out pacing my friends 1991 911 C2 on the autobahn and just completed a track day at Donington it all seems well worth it!!!

Here are some pictures,

I currently looking at getting new tyres probably will go for

PROXES T1-S 225/40 ZR18 91Y Rim-protection

Can anyone tell me if RS4 wheels will take 235?

Cheers lads !

Long story as you can see they're not genuine wheels, after having them on for a day I noticed two of the inserts had come off, then the next day three..etc

PS Have just fitted Toyo Proxy T1-S 235/40 R 18 looks much better.

The supplier and every tyre place I've been to in Nottingham decided its illegal from them to supplier me with the stickers - not sure if the real Audi inserts will fit? Will maybe buy one and see!

Although thinking hard about some Mov-It brakes in the spring and I do like the MTM Alloys

Anyone doing a track day in the New Year?

Sam - my wheels are replica - I had 18" replicas before and got the BS about not suppying the rings - My 19s came with the rings on teh horrible crhome plastic centres.

Buy the genuine ones - you will need to snip off a bit of plastic, around the back - they will clip stright on after that.

HTH

And - Why did you go for 235/40X18 - why not 225/40X18 - 235 are a bit too wide under extreme compressions.

Sam - have you tried C&R Enterprises in Nottingham?

From experience they've been very good with both knowledge & care of customers cars..... will certainly know what an S2 is!

They are a VW Audi specialist & I used them whilst as a student in Notts. If I still lived up there, they'd be the only guys I'd let near my S2!

Cheers Doug, will get some on order!

"Why did you go for 235/40X18 - why not 225/40X18 - 235 are a bit too wide under extreme compressions."

Had 215/35X18's before and hated the way they looked and scuffed a couple of rim's so thought I'd try 235's they do look nice...

Haven't really pushed these yet with the weather and Xmas etc hope to do at least one track day feb/march so will see how they go
