Ive been reading through the S4 posting about the driveline stabaliser on the snub mount for the S4.

what determines the design for this so that one could be made suitable for the S2 which also suffers with the same problem?

Havent managed to find a manufacturer of them for S2 either.

Hi Greg,

I'd be interested in a new front mount. I'll try and catch up with All Audi on Friday and see if I can get an old one off one of their coupes. If I can, do you want me to send it to you?

I've found that jacking up the rear gearbox mount and moving the front snub mount bracket down, so it's hard up against the rubber helps to reduce the front to back movement. This definately helps to reduce the variation in gearchange smoothness. Also take a look at the gearstick knuckle joint. If the rubber has come away from the metal plate, this will add to the problem. A new plate and rubber bush is about £35.
