Trying to buy an S2

Post by mattrob » Tue Jul 08, 2003 8:03 am

Hi there everyone - I am new to this forum.

I am looking to buy an S2 within the next two months or so and I have got my heart set on trying to track down a Kingfisher Blue car. Does anyone know how many S2's there are around in this colour - I have a feeling they are as common as

I don't want to turn down other (good) cars for sale if the chances of finding a Kingfisher Blue one are very remote though. I have seen one 1994 S2 (130,000 miles) for sale at a dealer in Chesham for £7,400, but this is slightly higher mileage than I am looking for (and a bit expensive I think given the mileage). However, if there is nothing else likely to come up though in the next few months, then I might be tempted to take a closer look...

Matt,

I don't think they are that rare, I know a few people who have them, and it is a beautiful colour. Worth waiting for the right one, see http://www.s2-audi.co.uk/, http://www.s2central.net/ and http://www.s2forum.com/ for more S2 specific details.

Matt, over the past few years I have come across 6 Kingfisher coupes in the UK. No figures available as to how many Audi imported.

One of the 6 is thankfully mine

Recently there were two that went on sale through autotrader, pretty much at the same time.

There is one modified Nothelle N300 in Kingfisher out there, the rest are *basically* stock.

So, not as rare as I thought then...

Any views on the one Kingfisher Blue car I have seen ? 130k on the clock makes me a tad nervous, but apparently it has full Audi service history and is tip-top condition (but they all say that don't they)... I have already looked at one S2 with 130k and I was amazed at how well it looked and drove given the mileage. Before I decided on buying an S2 I was looking at Alfa GTV V6's and looked at plenty with less than half this mileage that weren't in anything like as good order. What does anyone think about the price - is £7,000 about right for such a car ? Any buying advice welcomed, I am planning to go and look at it this Friday !

In general no problem with 130k for the engine.

Check out http://www.s2central.net for a good buyers guide.

Note fAsh means nothing in terms of car quality. The service items don't cover what needs to be done on this car to keep it top notch as the miles increase.

At 130k miles expect a stack of bills, including but not limited to suspension, suspension and sub-frame bushes, cam belts.... again check the buyers guide. Might also be worth joining and posting on http://www.s2forum.com/forum/ as someone there may be able to visit potential cars with you.

£price depends on the car, sounds reasonable but condition is all important.

Good luck..

Jim

Can't comment on S2s but I bought an RS2 with over 120 k on the clock earlier this year and haven't had any regrets so far. Engine sounds find and she runs well, performs well and cruises happily at decent speeds.

She had a full Audi/Audi specialist service history and all the receipts for work done in recent years. Got QST to service her and have a good look round once I bought her.

Many thanks for the advice guys !

I have had three coupe's before (although never an S2), so I know roughly what to look out for. I've checked out the buyers guide at S2 Central and will take a good look at everything that it suggests. Will let you know how things turn out...

hello m8

I have an s2 for sale atm, it's noit the colour your looking for, but is pearlecent white, which im told is also a rare colour..

It has 150k on the clock but has loads of receipts aswell as full service history, engine sounds and goes spot on, no problems with it atall..

Only problem i've had with it is a split water hose...

If your still looking for 1 and would consider a different colour, then pm me as im only in cheltenham, which ain't far from you, and mine is alot cheaper than the one your thinking of getting....
