VAG-COM

Post by s2driver » Wed May 14, 2003 12:08 am

Anyone use VAG-COM on their S2?

I have been putting off buying it for too long. Does it work as well with the S2 as with some of the more modern Audis and are there any limitations?

Cheers

Lee, with the mods you are planning it sounds like a good idea, unless you are going to replace the Motronic ECU and then you'll need to make sure whatever ECU you're going for is compatable.

I've used Paul N's vag-com to diagnose a couple of problems and really want to buy a set myself. Invaluable for tracking sensor faults. Only thing holding me back is finding the cables for reasonable money - seem over priced to me from UK suppliers.

Also useful for logging on the road and on the track info to get a real understanding of performance - again sounds sensible for you mods.

I don't want to step on anyones toes(again) but I got VAG-COM for my S2 with the full license, RS232 to ISO lead and the iso to 2X2 connector for £130(last december) - it's from canada so depends on exchange rates at the time - and I don't know if this excluded tax - I certainly didn't pay customs anything.

The uk vag-com site was getting cheaper and probably a safer bet if anyhting was wrong - there are group buys which might make it cheaper as well.

Sounds interesting Dougal. I was looking at over £200 from one place.

Can anyone bring VAG-COM with the 2x2 cable to G-Force so that I can see what it doesn't do.

Not sure about ECU upgrades yet. I will retain the standard one to custom re-map for 400 bhp but will likely go radical after that and probably non-VAG-COM compatible. It depends on the options available at the time.
