RS 6 Avant performance Carbon Vorsprung / missing Convenience Key?

Recently took delivery of a new RS 6 Avant performance Carbon Vorsprung.

Why does this model spec miss Convenience Key, yet it can be specified on the base RS 6 Avant performance?

Tried getting my dealer to investigate but doesn't seem motivated to help. :audibash:

This is my first new Audi in years that doesn't have Convenience Key and it's bugging the hell out of me; every time I pull on the door handle and the car doesn't unlock! (First World problem I know).

Anyone have any thoughts as to why this is the case please? Cheers, Darren.

Yes, Audi UK removed without any explanation as usual. Anyone knows if it is possible to install it?

At least when you are in the car you can pop your phone on your wireless charger.... Oh wait....

Let me guess; its a semi conductor supply issue. Mind you, every other manufacturer seems to be adding functionality not taking it away.

Do you have electric steering wheel adjustment? There was a rumour that was going too?

I'm sure Convenience Key was detailed on my order form. I'm trying to get the dealer to confirm with Audi why it wasn't installed and what the options are to resolve. Will report back....

Yeah, that's another thing now you mention.... where's the bloody wireless charging?!? That said, I have that in my M2C and it cooks the phone. So I rarely use it.

My RS6P does have electric steering wheel adjustment... But I'd take convenience key over that! I would love to understand Audi's reasoning for it not being on some of the latest RS6's....

Just took delivery of mine and yes, the hands free opening isn't there. Been told it's a security issue? And may be reinstated at some point.

Nope, it’s as simple as all cars with carbon pack, no convenience key. It’s to do with the remote boot release with your foot, won’t work with the carbon pack for some reason. Hence why you can have it on the standard car as no carbon pack available.

Very interesting. That does make some sense with the boot release, but why wouldn’t convenience key work for the doors?

I think I remember on the C7 RS6 there was two options. One was called Advanced Key which was just for the doors and boot if you pressed the button on the key fob. This was only available on cars with a carbon styling pack. The other was Advanced Key with hand free boot opening which was available on all other non carbon styling pack cars.

The weird thing I find is that the original C8 Carbon Black model could be specced with a comfort and sound pack which included the advance key and remote boot release (foot). I’m guessing Audi couldn’t be bothered in developing two systems like the C7 :audibash: :audibash:

Edit. I’ve just double checked other countries in the world, Australia & South Africa to be specific, and they can have the carbon pack with the full convenience key function so that’s my theory out of the window :drink:

Casual bump

Anyone know anything more about this? I can't find further info on why you can't have convenience key/entry on the Performance?

I've had it in all my other Audis and started noticing listings for the RS6 performance that show the boot open, and there only being the one button. I'm not saying it's a deal-breaker but

Ive the C8 2023 and the key is the same. Yes you have push button start once inside but no door or tailgate opening.

Looking at how Audi is setting out its options and pricing, its clear they are devising ways to squeeze extra £££ out of every car. Try having Nardo Grey as a standard colour that it has been for years, but now if you want that colour on the RSQ8, it will cost you over £5k. They see what people like best then take the p... That said even BMW M are now putting all their standard kit as optional. Nothing but greed.
