Recall Notice - Fuel Sender fault

Well imagine my surprise after suffering (as some here will recall) an issue with a faulty fuel system on my last RS6, that this same fault is now a recall notice for my new one !!

Has anyone else had the recall letter ? Mine came last week and the work has been completed today with a new sender installed that won’t now possibly snag on the vent in the tank.

The letter warns that you may run out of fuel and could be dangerous- no <beep> Audi only you spent 3 months telling me mine was a 1 off never known issue. Humm

Anyhow happy to have my new one sorted despite seemingly working fine….

I got the recall, I’ll get it done at the next service. I’d assumed it just causes incorrect measurements in the tank?

Yes I got the letter and the MMI shows it too (as does the app).

I'll also get it done next service.

Given the fuel gauge goes down so quickly I'm sure I'd notice a snag.

The Audi App.

Link it to your car and it tells you fuel level (range), car GPS location, service intervals, if your alarm is going off and lets you check your car is locked (and even lock it if required).

Its a good app really.

21 - so reckon they fixed it in the factory for your year. It’s not like they didn’t know about it beforehand !

My dealer called me in for the recall and forgot to tell me the tank needed to have less than 25% fuel in it. I took it to the dealer with a full tank. I went home. Annoyed.

Dealer called me to advise i need 25% fuel for the recall (car was July 2021) - wasn't an issue obvs with the thirst of the beast! Work carried out and also got them to do a full MMI update to the latest version. This gave me full wireless android auto AND fixed a few other niggles too. Worth doing if you're having the recall done. I did have to ask for them to do the MMI under a "Warranty claim". The only thing is - it took 3 days for them to complete the update as they said it was huge and the car would need to sit there for many hours.
