Vorsprung Edition

Post by Jezzer » Thu Aug 27, 2020 9:56 am

Has anyone managed to get the wheels changed to black and polished rims like on the Launch Edition on their Vorsprung RS6? Don’t see why I can’t have the wheels I want considering how much I’m paying.

Yes I had it done not long after I picked the car up. Dealer sorted it for me. Only thing I lost was the ‘Audi Sport’ logo on the wheel as they couldn’t reproduce that. Cost I think was between £300-£400 for all 4 wheels

Is that Audi Cambridge? I was thinking more about getting factory wheels with the black inserts instead of having the silver ones painted. Why have they specced silver wheels for the Vorsprung?

Yup Cambridge

When I specced the car back in Nov 2019, there was no option to have Black wheels on a Vorsprung, it was the Silver/Titanuim only. Not sure if that has changed now? I stuck with this option as it was the only choice, then after I picked the car up decided I definitely wanted black.

Options were paint or buy a new set of wheels. The latter didn't make sense when I'm sure each wheel would have been £800+ and then I would have been left with two sets of wheels, so I went for painting. The painting is a good job so Im pretty pleased with them

I agree....would make sense if your choosing the top spec then you should have a choice of wheel color.....but Audi UK seem to have made this choice and your stuck with it if you spec Vorsprung. :bash:

Yeah I’ve bought mine from Matt at Cambridge and he mentioned that they got a set painted. Did the grey wheels look terrible against a black car. I’ve ordered Nardo Grey I don’t know if they would blend better. It just seems they have put the cheapest looking wheels on the most expensive car. How are you finding the car, is it as good as they say?

Yeah Matt was great. Think I took delivery of their first customer car so he was as excited as I was! Arranged for it to be shipped straight from their PDI centre to the company I used for PPF then to Cambridge for collection. Great service

It was mine they painted....however....the grey ones looked ok, until I curbed one...badly...so I had them all done black as one had to be done anyway! :D

Finding it great. Very different to my C7 performance. Very quick but much more refined than the C7. 4 wheel steer makes a huge difference, tech is light years ahead of the C7. It was quieter than the C7 but I’ve had a Milltek fitted which makes a huge difference in a good way.

In the wet, point to point there isn’t much that gets close...

Okay thanks for the info. I also had a C7 Performance from Cambridge and was thinking the C8 wasn’t going to be as quick.
Where did you get the Miltek exhaust? Is it just an axle back or all the way through? Does this take out the OPFs? If you are local maybe I could grab a passenger ride to hear the difference please

Sound - Put some miles on the car it gets a lot louder, mine is on 1800 miles now and its very different from when I collected it, my first C8 had the standard exhaust and when I got the Vorsprung I was disappointed it didn't sound any different, but its now very close to how my old C7 Perf was.

Bally your right - mine did get louder with more miles. Still wasn't quite there for me. The Miltek sounds a little deeper, and then when the valves open more like what I was expecting, but in Auto its just as refined and no drone etc. Each to their own, but I just wanted a little more noise

I'm about 5k miles in now, car is definitely more eager and the engine seems to be loosening up nicely, although I have got squeaky brake syndrome sometimes. Had this with my C7 as well and when I asked about that i was told its just something they do so not sure if this is something all RS's suffer

Had the Miltek fitted at Richter Sports in Milton Keynes, did a great job and they are the guys who do the ABT conversions so well versed in Audi RS's. Its OPF's etc back so still fully compliant but a different tone etc and lighter. The old one actually comes off both sides joined together and in one piece so its a pretty straight swap as i understand.

Had most of my S/RS's from Cambridge and they were also surprised by the C8. Its as quick if not quicker as the torque is more. Just feels different. Its more refined so its only when you look at the speedo you realize how fast your going.

I'm in Herts so drop me a PM if we can do a (socially distanced) ride!

For some reason every Vorsprung trim has a silver wheel (all RS models). So annoying why Audi UK makes that choice.

Got my Vorsprung wheels repainted and had the decals put on before they were lacquered.

Where did you get the decals? I wasn't offered them when mine were done. Bugger! May need them doing again!

Now I’ve got the car I think I prefer the standard grey colour wheel. Think the colour makes it look a bigger wheel and looks better with Nardo Grey.
