Aftermarket exhaust

Post by lem » Fri Jun 12, 2020 1:02 pm

Hi all - not sure anyone has, but just checking if anyone has gone the aftermarket exhaust route yet on the C8 and any thoughts?

I'm just about to make my decision on this as I have the prices on both Milltek and Akrapovic, and can actually go somewhere and have it fitted!

Milltek is coming in at approx £3K + VAT fitted
Akrapovic is coming in at approx £6500 + VAT fitted (ouch!)

As I understand, the Milltek is front pipe back (leaving the factory front pipe and box fitted to the car) and bolts on with no cutting involved. Same for the Akrapovic I think

Both will change the exhaust note and volume a bit but have been advised that to replicate the volume of the C7 RS6 I would have to go high flow cat turbo back system which would then require a stage 2 remap, which is something I'm not willing to do at this stage as id like a bit more volume, but nothing too loud, and then there is the warranty issues......

Chop centre section boxes out £200 to see if you think the Millie will be worth the £3k. Worst case scenario - you have a car noisier than before, slightly.

Seems the set up for the C8 is more complex then previous models.

GPF filters etc

The Milltek set up seems complicated? It does say you have to cut OEM system to make it fit??

Apparently there are two options. One that needs chopping and one that doesn't. Im not keen to be cutting the OEM as I may want to return to stock when I get shot of the car, so would prefer the bolt on version

You are right though, C8 is much more restricted than C7, hence downpipes, high flow cat etc is the option to remove more of the restrictions, which could be an option longer term, but want to take it a step at a time

Cars making good power on a map on OEM exhaust Too

Air intakes are straight into engine on C8...

I reckon with downpipes etc and a stage two map this cats going to make much more than a C7

What are the differences between the OEM standard and Sports exhaust? Is it internals, less baffles etc or is it all to down to the software?

Richter Sports have done the quotes. They say Akra they can order in and is available. Not sure on lead times on the Akra but the Milltek is about 2-3 days, however the Black tips are back order until 4th July ish

Like the idea of the Akra, but its over double price, and to be honest I'm not sure on the tips

Crap picture but I dont think they look as good as the ones for the C7. Personal opinion, but not sure

Milltek on order - they had the exhaust in stock but waiting for a specific clamp to be delivered. Hopefully fitted sometime after the 11th July. Looking forward to seeing how it sounds!

Good choice) which version you ordered? Resonated or none resonated exhaust?

Its not the same format as the C7, there is no 'resonated' or 'non resonated'

Its either particulate filter / OPF/GPF back system which requires OE system to be cut, or front pipe back which doesn't require the OE system to be cut.

I'm having the latter with Black tips as I don't want the OE cut, in case I want to put it back on when I sell the car. I think the option I'm going for may be the slightly quieter one, but Ill wait to see how much of a difference it makes

I was told the C8 wont sound as loud as the C7 with a Milltek unless I also go for wide bore down pipes, hi-flow cats and a stage 2....which is a step to far at the moment because of warranty

Yeah but I’d there a difference in noise on the two milltek options?
