Was Chatting to the dealer earlier this week. They are expecting their demo in next week

He was saying its a "launch spec" so not consistent with the configurator!!

Looked online and can't see anything for a launch spec car, other than for an etron?

I don’t think that there is a “launch edition” per se. Unlike Mercedes who often bring out an Edition 1 or 1st Edition. From what I understand the dealers weren’t sure what their demos would look like as they were literally going to get sent whatever Audi decided to produce as a the first run / batch of RHD cars off the production line.
Could well be that the cars are a mix of full spec or mid spec vehicles. Hard choice in reality as those that haven’t ordered blind will have to hunt around to test drive a car with the suspension set up, brakes and interior finishes that they want.
I was hoping the demo vehicles would have arrived by now!
Has anyone heard any news on a demo arriving?

If like Porsche it will be cars that they chuck over to get the demos going but may be in a spec you can’t actually order yourself, probably mainly cosmetic type things really.

I’ve been told the official launch is the 27th Jan and that’s when my dealer will have theirs. No clue given as to the spec though!

Thanks for that - accordingly, Cardiff Audis Demo is due in this week as I've an appointment to drive it this coming Sat (4th).....we shall see....All Cardiff knows about their demo is that its a Vorsprung with red callipers in Nardo and black pack - or thats what they tell me!

Went to my local dealer this morning (Exeter) and they have their demo car, it was in the 'presentation bay' and wasn't prepped. The car is Nardo with the carbon pack wheels and roof, in the confines of the presentation bay it looked very wide, maybe too wide for my tastes.

The car wasn't clean but I don't think Nardo does much for the lines, and I noticed that the pan roof glass extends all the way to the top of the windscreen on the exterior, not interior. I liked the interior a lot, beautifully finished and on start up the car sounds more aggressive than my PE. When the car is on the road they will be in touch to arrange a demo, I will then get a better idea of the spec and post impressions. I have to say that I was a little underwhelmed with the appearance, but mitigating factors are the confined space and the fact it wasn't prepared.

The roof thing is quite common these days, both my last AMG E and current 992 have this. Looks much better, particularly on a contrasting colour

Yes, our Volvo is the same, the only body-coloured metal on top of the roof is a relatively small section behind the panoramic glass.
(Tailgate is similar, all glass externally down to the wiper mount.)

My dealer said that the launch edition was a German spec car and can’t be resold, it’s for show purposes only until UK cars land

So the cars in the dealers are not allowed to be released until the 26/01 which is apparently the official launch date.

Until then they will be teasing everyone lol

As for not being able to sell them. Not true!
Few physical cars on Autotrader for sale already which is odd as you would imagine they would have their own queuing customers who would love an early car??

I suspect Audi might take a dim view of dealer’s selling non Uk spec launch cars ahead of customer ordered cars

This is the only one I could find

Visited the C8 in Cardiff Audi, but despite being booked to drive it yesterday - not allowed until weekend of 25th

Initial thoughts, not as radical in design and jaw dropping as I was hoping for, next to the C7; nice to compare as both Nardo with red callipers and black pack. Lovely car all the same though. Back lights are fab

Weird spec for the "launch edition" - supposed to be a Vorsprung but

No HUD
No 360 camera, only a rear facing one.
Back end or rear 3/4 I think is the best angle

Honestly can't say if I want to proceed with my order,; think it would be a great buy at £70-80k pricing point - but even with the £11/12k discounts being offered, it's a lot of money for something that I think will haemorrhage cash in it's first 12-18mths of life. Having said that - residual values on finance are strong. On a purchase price of £93663 - RV after 48 mths is £47300 at 6.6% APR
