Having come from the E class AMG I thought that looked quite boring but was a good sleeper although people would try and flag you down thinking you were a taxi!

Sorry but you're quite wrong, according to an expert on here it is dynamically identical to the C7, save for the rear wheel steering, so all those so called motoring journalists claiming it moves the game on are not to be believed, probably on the Audi payroll.

He can't be much of an expert.

The C8 has similar front suspension to the C7 in that it's five-link suspension, but it is in fact all new.

The rear suspension isn't even similar. The C7 had a trapexoidal link rear suspension, while the C8 has five link suspension instead.

Perhaps the so-called expert also thinks that C8 4 litre V8 TT engine and 8 speed gearbox are the same as the C7 4 litre V8 TT engine and 8 speed gearbox, but they're different too.

I have to admit I did think the C8 was little more than a re-skin of the C7, but it turns out that's not the case at all.

For example, the first picture is the C7 rear suspension, and the second is the C8.

I think the point being made is that dynamically it will be more of the same. And yes, whilst the journo view is OK, the common theme is that the drive is not the most rewarding. I’ve owned the last two RS6s, and that is entirely fair comment, it’s an expected part of the drive. Anyone claiming that it’s a GT3 needs their head checking.

You could say the same about the C7 vs the C6. The suspension is much the same , but the C7 was still a step forwards in many important respects, and is SOUNDS like the C8 is another step in the right direction.

Fast Audis have never been favourites of the European motoring press, with the handling in particular criticised for it's nose-heaviness. The C8 seems a bit different and a bit better from what I've read so far. Instead of being behind the competition in terms of the finer qualities like agility, balance, adjustability, feel etc, it sounds like it's on a par, if not leading the way.

My impression is it's quite a step forward in the marketplace.

I am saying the same about C6 to C7!

It should be a step, at the RRP it should be class leading with the service to match. But it isn’t, not that I’m in the market anyway.

Some people here seem to have an odd and irrational dislike of the new RS6 for some reason without much justification that I can see. We are all certainly allowed our opinions but I don’t quite get why one or two people seem to hate the car without really driving it or checking it over properly.

Anyway, you may have moved on from Audi but you aren’t putting me off the arrival of my new RS6. I can’t wait.

Owned 2 C7, it is autobahn cars, but whales on corners.
I drive GT3 RS and M3 Schirmer on the Nürburgring Nordschleife regularly and for sure « dynamic » is relative.

ButI think it will be a little bit better. Not a 911 but perfect for a daily, to my opinion.

Of course there are other options, others competitors. And there are small things that are not my taste like too big wheels with thin tyres, engine noise. But as a package I like the concept for daily use. I won’t ask it more.

Joking (and jokers) aside, I wouldn't dream of ordering without driving one first, it would be an everyday car for me so I have a lot of questions to ask of it. I agree with 535 boy about the looks, it's very angular and the back end is fussy, but I suspect the car will be quite colour sensitive and the Nardo one I viewed wasn't cleaned so unfair to judge too harshly. My over riding concern is the width of the thing, I now live in the South West where many roads and parking places are narrow, my C7 is enough of a struggle so not sure that I'd find it too easy to live with.

I drove an air suspension one last week and found it wonderful but it would be really boring if everyone agreed - it's bad enough that I haven't got a built slot yet, lord knows how long I'd have to wait if everyone loved them!!!!

I drove an air suspension one last week and found it wonderful but it would be really boring if everyone agreed - it's bad enough that I haven't got a built slot yet, lord knows how long I'd have to wait if everyone loved them!!!!

I think you misunderstand me, I was referring to the fact that the Nardo car I viewed at my local dealer was just off the trailer, covered in grime and still had some protective bits on. My original post stated that I didn't think the car looked great in Nardo but wanted to qualify my remark, that's all.

There do seem to be some odd posts descending on this forum though, people who state the car won't corner on rails, is no GT3 and so on! I'm not sure what their issue really is, the car is a family wagon weighing over 2 tonnes, for me it is a family/dog/golf clubs transporter with more than enough power, plenty of comfort and good looks; those are the boxes I want to tick when buying a big estate car

I haven't read anyone on here suggesting that the car compares to GT3, so why somebody would bother to remind us all that it isn't is beyond me, maybe it's jealousy, ignorance or spite, but whatever it's unnecessary and I think it would be better if they kept their peace. By all means comment on the car's ability against its competition and give your opinion, but keep a sense of perspective and also be mindful of the fact that some on here have just shelled out a lot of money for a new one, it costs nothing to respect people's feelings.

You seem to be here to slag off the C8 and annoy people that have ordered.
