RS4 B9 Maintenance - What to expect?

Post by GH18 » Tue Oct 22, 2024 3:56 pm

Car is now 6.5 years old with 22.5k miles and FASH - the local Audi dealer has been in touch to arrange a service package for the next 2 years meaning a major service due now and a minor service next year.
It's been serviced each year but they won't confirm what the major or minor service entails despite requests. Could someone please advise on this or possibly provide a link to where it is listed out?
I'm aware that some additional maintenance should be done based on the age of the car but again don't know what - is this listed somewhere? No doubt Audi will want to charge extra for this as it'll be deemed outside of the major / minor service scheduled items. I do know that the car hasn't had any spark plugs changed yet, nor gearbox or differential fluids changed so is this a concern?

You can look this up in the MyAudi app (no subscription needed for this bit).

Water drainage from pan roof:
20k miles / every 2 years

Cabin air filter:
40k miles / every 2 years

Spark plugs renew:
40k miles / every 6 years

Rear final drive (sport diff) oil:
60k miles

Air filter housing & new filter element:
60k miles

Brake fluid:
First after 3 then every 2 years

Emergency battery for telematics:
First after 7 then every 7 years

I had my sport diff fluid changed at 47k miles along with the gearbox fluid.

For whatever reason, one of the earlier owners replaced the sparks at 10k miles so I only had those changed myself at 50k.

Before you commit to an Audi plan if it's not too late already, see if there's an indie specialist in your area who looks after RS models. They may well come out cheaper for ad hoc services, and will be less prone to recommend extra work that may not strictly be required.

Having just used the two services in my service plan, I've been going through the same process myself. It's not easy. I did come across a page on the Audi UK website for fixed-price servicing for cars 3+ years old. Enter your car's registration and it shows local dealer pricing for an oil change or an oil change/inspection service.
https://www.audi.co.uk/uk/web/en/owners ... ing.html#/

Click on the What's included link to see what's provided in each service (screenshot below). At the bottom of the page, click Services to include optional items such as replacing air filters, brake fluid, spark plugs, etc in the quote.

That may help you decide whether it's cost effective to buy a service plan (discounted until Dec 8th).
