B9 ride quality

Post by afcbadam » Sun Apr 23, 2023 5:17 pm

Anyone else find the b9 rs4 ride quality poor? I'm running 275/30/20 p zeros and think the ride is awful for a car like this, contemplating dropping to a 19 inch wheel with a 35 sidewall.
Tried various tyre pressures and none get the ride to my liking. Always run michelins ps4's but don't want to take the risk putting a set on the 20's and still not been happy.
Car has DRC and seems to be working as it should so can only put it down to the wheel/tyre combo

Mines running on 275/30/20s as well and it also has DRC - I find the ride is plush! Been very impressed with the ride quality to be honest. Mine has Pirelli P zeros btw.

I'm on 275/30/20 Pilot Sport 4 S with DRC and it's lovely. Surprises people who ride in it and have more extensive experience of stiff sports cars than me.

Have you checked that your suspension isn't in Dynamic mode? It is significantly nicer in Comfort ..

I use Individual all the time so the suspension always stays in Comfort.

I am running standard suspension 265/35 Hankooks and have no issues other than slightly jiggly on some surfaces

Really pleased I came across this post. Feel exactly the same. Vorsprung car with DRC. Just completed my first 2000 miles and have to say the ride is disappointing. What car did you come from? Mine was a Macan GTS also what’s the milage? mine has 28k. Contemplating taking in to be checked or are we just getting old!!!

Not sure if there is any difference between B9 and B9.5 but mine is a 9.5 on standard audi sport suspension, bit crashie over rough surfaces or speed bumps, rest of the time (95%+) ride is refined and smooth.

If it involves rattles or creaks on the wheels you might want to remove the wheels and check for damper damages. When one blew up on my car it started with worsening ride quality, followed by rattles and creaks. If your car has DRC, listen carefully if there is any noises from the boot. When the valves have issues they make faint creaky noises. as if something’s not tightened properly.

Coming from Nissan GTR, I am extremely sattisfied with B9.5 ride quality.
It has DRC and this works above all my expectations,
Continental tires, 275/30 20.

Non DRC here and suspension is absolutely fine IMO. And mine goes up and down bumpy b-roads for most of the time.
