B9 engine failure

An interesting video, the precursor to this was the vehicle being low-loader delivered from an Audi dealership where the owner had been told that it was a replacement engine at £17k. :audibash: These guys got the engine running by swapping camshaft sensors bank-to-bank but it clearly wasn't healthy so the engine had to come out/

Was interesting for me on two counts, 1) because I have owned a B9 and 2) because the my current F3 RSQ3 also trashed itself with a camshaft and rocker failure recently (under warranty) and was off the road for a month. The dealers have limited diagnostic capability and evidently depend on Audi tech support for instructions of what to do/what to replace.

I have a massive respect for Audi and enormous brand loyalty and this isn't good viewing.

Yes, I've watched part 1 and part 2, the cylinder heads were badly coked as well

These 2.9 engines are still relatively new designs so only time will tell how well they hold up long term.
There just isn't much hard data to go on but I am encouraged by the fact that Porsche are using this design and Porsche currently has one of the best reliability records in the market

That company seem to have an issue over respect for customer vehicles and the speed limit https://youtu.be/6Uhs-bB3MT0

The reputational damage is enormous and whilst YouTube is a great tool for raising the profile of a business its also a double-edged sword, cuts both ways.
