Hi all, can anyone please confirm wether or not this is the sports exhaust or standard? And if so, is it a straight swap for standard exhaust on my 2018 RS4? (I always assumed black tips meant it was sports exhaust)......

I think they're all black tips, never seen a B9 with chrome tips

My B9 has chrome tips and to the best of my knowledge (as the second owner and based on the lack of a sports exhaust reference in the optional equipment list in My Audi app) I have the standard exhaust.

Can't comment with any certainty I'm afraid on whether it's a simple swap out though.

Here’s the sports exhaust off my old 2018 B9 RS5 which is the same
System as the 4 for comparison.
Whichever one you choose if you’re looking for decent noise then ignore any OEM exhausts and spend the extra on something like a non res Milltek. I had to do it as the noise was just ‘meh’ which isn’t good in a performance car.

The best exhaust option if you want a better sound but keep the OEM look is to contact Paul at PCW https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=3603810249747148

I had my F3 RSQ3 'enhanced' a few months back. The conversation goes like this "Do you want nicely loud or very loud?" "Nicely". I have a Cete AVC so can open the flaps at will - they stay shut in town.... :biggrin3:

Cost - approx £400 vs a Miltek at considerably more. No brainer.

Thanks for the info, yes it appears that the standard exhaust can come with both chrome & black tips, very confusing, unlike the B7 which was one or the other!

RS4John, this is very interesting. thanks for this, will give them a call!

Is it possible for you to swap that 2022 exhaust onto your 2018? The 2020+ facelift models have OPF, and I remember seeing one of the aftermarket exhaust brands differentiating their products based on the car being non-OPF/OPF.
